BGR Piper Racecars Welcomes Back Roman De Angelis

BGR Piper Racecars welcomes back Roman De Angelis for the 2017 season. The returning driver is coming off an outstanding 2016 rookie season that saw him win races in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, The Formula Tour 1600 Series as well as the Canadian F1600 Super Series.

He was the 2016 Rookie of the Year in the Toyo Tires Championship as well as gathering best new driver awards from both BARC-OC and CASC. The Formula Tour 1600 Series named Roman as the most improved driver over the course of the 2016 season where he claimed a very close 3rd place in the final point standings of the Quebec based series. Capturing 4 wins in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship along with many other podiums vaulted Roman to runner up in the Championship.

“I’m very excited to get back started on my second season with Brian Graham Racing! I'm looking forward to pushingfor more race wins and also for the Quebec 1600 Championship during my 2017 season" comments Roman De Angelis. "We are thrilled to have Roman back under the awning at BGR, he is a pleasure to work with and we are taking aim at a Championship along with race wins” says team owner Brian Graham.

The 2017 race season has already begun for the BGR team. Two outstanding races at Sebring Florida at the SCCA Majors Tour netted the sophomore driver a few podiums, where he led both days to open his season.   Roman will have a very busy 2017 season as he takes a run at the Formula Tour 1600 title, the Canadian Super Series, as well as looking to win the SCCA National Championship Run Offs being held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in late September.

Next up is Virginia International Raceway and the SCCA Majors event in April for Roman and the BGR crew.  A private team test prior to the event will allow the team to continue to introduce new components to the winning Piper DL7 chassis. Upon completion, the team will return home and begin the campaign for both the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, as well as the Quebec based Formula Tour 1600 Series. Seats are still available for some events and interested parties can contact the team for more info.

BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory supported team of the popular chassis which is built in California, USA.  The all new Piper DL7 debuted in 2014 and grabbed its first win at CTMP winning the Al Craighead CanAm Cup.   BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in OFFC history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year 10 of the last 11 years.  With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
