Brian Graham Racing captured the 2017 ToyoTires F1600 Championship with Ben Hurst after a strong final weekend at CTMP. The third year driver who began his F1600 career with Rookie of the Year honors has now progressed to a champion.  With the final 3 races of the season very hotly contested with a 23 car grid, Hurst captured two

Class A wins and a runner up.  All 3 races were hard fought affairs with multiple lead changes and they all came down to the last lap with the margin of victory less than a second for all 3 races amongst the top 3 drivers.

"Ben had a great final weekend and thoroughly deserves his title; he has made improvements all season long and grew into a winner this season.  He joins a long list of winners at BGR and we are very proud of his season and know he will be successful wherever he goes in his racing career.  A big thanks to the crew and to our partner at Piper Race Cars as the cars just keep getting better as we go.  This is Piper’s second Championship in 3 years and we are excited about the future." comments team owner Brian Graham.

The team heads to Quebec and the Circuit Mont Tremblant for the final weekend of the Formula Tour 1600 with Roman De Angelis who sits 2nd in points.  An unfortunate conflict in schedules with  a second series he competes in  meant he missed the penultimate rounds and that will make it a tall order to make it two for two for the BGR squad to claim the title in Quebec. Nevertheless, the team is determined to finish up the season on a high and secure the best results they can.

BGR would like to thank the  sponsors of the F1600 Championship,  FEL Enterprises, Toyo Tires, Braidan Tire, MK Technologies, Honda Racing HPD, Wayne Gretzky Estates, and CASC-OR.  The team will begin testing immediately after the season ends and welcomes and drivers who are interested in testing opportunities to contact them directly @ brian.bgr@xplornet.com

BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory supported team of the popular chassis which is built in California, USA.  The all new Piper DL7 debuted in 2014 and grabbed its first win at CTMP winning the Al Craighead CanAm Cup.   BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in OFFC history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year 10 of the last 12 years.  With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
