First Driver Signing for 2019

BGR Piper Race Cars announces Matthew Barry as the first driver signing for the 2019 Season.


Brian Graham Racing is pleased to welcome Matthew Barry of Innisfil, Ontario to the BGR family as he makes the transition from karting to F1600 competition.
Matthew will be making his debut in theToyo Tires F1600 Championship. Having previously tested with BGR on a few occasions Matthew has already settled in with the team and is eager to add his name to the long list of winners and podium finishers as he contends for Rookie of the Year honours.
“We are delighted to welcome Matthew to the team. He has tested with us on a few different occasions and we are confident he is ready for the challenge. We’re excited to get going and look forward to once again signing another rookie and helping him develop his skills as he makes the move to cars” comments team principal Brian Graham.
At 16 years old, Matthew has several seasons of karting under his belt. The former Brian Stewart Karting Champioonship winner also has a Micro Max title to his credit as well as exerience in ROK Shifter. The grade 11 student will also be working wit the team in the shop over the course of the race season.
BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory supported team of the popular chassis which is built in California, USA. The all new Piper DL7 debuted in 2014 and grabbed it’s first win at CTMP during the Al Craighead Can Am Cup.
BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in Ontario F1600 (OFFC) history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year for 10 of the last 13 years. With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to win championships all over North America, to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
