BGR Team Grote Sets Lap Record for Goikhberg
Success at New Jersey Motorsports Park....
After the recently completed third and fourth rounds of the Ontario Formula Ford Championship at Shannonville Motorsports Park, the team had only a few days to turn things around and head off to NJMP for an SCCA National with Mikhail Goikhberg in the F2000 car.
Goikhberg re-united with the team for the event in preparation for the upcoming USF2000 National Championship event at the same track. A very successful test day lead to a Saturday pole position in the FC class. The race went well too, with Goikhberg pulling out a lead that grew to 10 seconds by mid-race, in the process setting a new FC lap record. With five laps remaining a stone found its way through the left radiator and forced the car to pit lane. The weekend was successful though, as it will better prepare Goikhberg for his return to NJMP in a few weeks.
"It was fun seeing Mikhail again and giving him the opportunity to get some time at NJMP, and good to see some of our friends from SCCA as well," stated Team Principal Brian Graham. "The weekend, although cut five laps short, was very successful and another lap record for the team is always nice."
The BGR Team Grote is now preparing for Rounds Five and Six of the OFFC this weekend (June 12-13) at Mosport International Raceway, which features the Can Am Cup, as well as running Kieran Murphy at the Formula Ford support race at the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix.
BGR Team Grote is currently leading the 2010 Rookie of the Year chase and the B Class in the OFFC, as well as leading the Ontario Formula Libre Championship.
BGR is running a full test schedule throughout the 2010 season. To learn more about BGR Team Grote, please visit http://www.briangrahamracing.com
