Brian Graham Racing/TLM Racing with Grote starts the season with podiums!

Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2009 Ontario Formula Ford Championships at Mosport Park gave all the drivers a wide variety of weather conditions to deal with.

With 4 rookie drivers competing for the first time not only at Mosport but also the first time in Formula Ford proved challenging but the whole team came through with flying colors.

With a slow start to the test day, the plan was to learn and build slowly, the 4 BGR prepped cars performed flawlessly all weekend and that is a testiment to the hard work the crew did over the off season. At the end of the first official practice BGR drivers sat 1st and 2nd in the damp conditions.  Against some of the country's best FF drivers, our drivers aquitted themselves very well in some very poor conditions. Stefan Rzadzinski put his ABL Group/SuperTint/ Amsoil/Synthetic Lubricants VanDiemen on the second row with Mikhail Goikhberg a few rows back and Fabio Urbano in his Urbano Electric/Metropolitan Doors entry right behind him. Kieran Murphy in the C class entry lined up in the 22nd spot for his first race ever in an open wheel car. At the end of the wet and entertaining event Stefan Rzadzinski had his first podium visit behind the reigning champ Matt White and Dan Burchill. Mikhail looked to be a contender early but a spin while running with Stefan and subsequent high siding on the curbing dropped him down to 19th at the checker. Fabio also was running well only to be caught out by the tricky conditions and drop down to 20th. Kieran had a spin but recovered for an 18th place finish, 3rd among the C class cars. Sunday brought dry conditions but much cooler temperatures.

Qualifying saw the steady improvement of the rookie drivers with Stefan lining up 3rd only 6/10 off pole and Mikhail 5th a further 9/10 back. Fabio continued his progress to line up 16th and Kieran 21st. At the drop of the green Stefan dropped to 4th and enjoyed a race long battle with long time FF driver Dan Burchill before finally getting a little breathing room on the last few laps to take his second podium of the weekend. Mikhail was shadowing Stefan for the first several laps before a mistake dropped him back far enough to lose the draft. He was running a solid 5th when a spin  dropped him one spot to 6th. Fabio continued to build pace enjoying a great battle with Quebec visitors Frank Roirin and Francois Leblanc before a spin saw him lose several spots but recover to finish 14th. Kieran ended up his first weekend 21st.
"We are delighted with our first race weekend of the season, Stefan, Mikhail, Fabio, and Kieran all showed great progress during the event with Stefan double podium visit and getting within 1/10 of the fastest lap of the race. Considering that most of the other competitors have 100's if not 1000's of laps here our 4 rookies did an outstanding job. It was a good first show and our first weekend with support from AMSOIL/ Synthetic was an all around success. We are looking forward to the next event at Shannonville Motorsports Park at the end of the month"
